Dog Halloween Costume Contest: Bob As Jack Sparrow

Posted: Oct 30 2012

This is Bob dressed as Jack Sparrow (front legs and head) and his pirate buddy (rear and back legs) carrying their booty (cardboard box resting on his back). Bob is dog that I rescued about 8 years ago. When animal control brought him to the vet clinic he was emaciated, had mange from head to tail and had a broken shoulder from being hit by a car. The humane society was worried that his shoulder would not heal and would need multiple surgeries to fix it. The decided to euthanize him. We had already gotten attached to him because he was such a sweet dog so I said I would take him. We nursed him back to health and now he is the most lovable animal you would ever meet! He loves to get dressed up every Halloween. When I start measuring him for his costume fittings he gets so excited. We go to our local shelters halloween costume contest every year. As soon as I get him dressed in his costume he just starts prancing around. He gets so excited.

I decided to make this costume because it was cheap and fairly easy to make. It weighs less than 5 lbs. including the costumes and he can move around comfortably. He just loved showing off this year. He likes to stop and pose for people to take pictures. :)

Would you consider making this same custom for another dog?

What a lovely story about how you and Bob got together. I hope he won the fancy dress contest. What are you entering him as this year?
