We all know about therapy dogs and the great work that they do every day. The concept behind Sit Stay Read is similar, with the dogs helping children feel more relaxed as they learn how to read. Recent studies have shown that this is very effective. “Reading aloud is a critical component of early childhood literacy. Children who have difficulty reading have an especially hard time reading aloud in front of peers and adults. SIT STAY READ programs allow children to read aloud to specially trained therapy dogs. The dogs increase confidence and generate excitement about reading.” Cool.
