Congratulations to Snowplow's Star Spangled Halloween, the winner of the 2011 PupLife Dog Halloween Costume Photo Contest. What a sweetie. Congrats to the second and third place winners, Bella The Ladybug and The Postal Carrier.

Thanks and belly rubs go out to all that dressed up, snapped the photos and commented here on the Dog Blog and on the PupLife Facebook Page. This year's contest was a huge success, a lot of fun and we look forward to doing it again next year!

Woof woof!

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: Princess Sophia

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 1 comment

This is Princess Sophia. She did not wish to be Tinkerbell for Halloween this year. So we let her run around in her Birthday Suit instead. Sophie is a purebred Maltese, with an energetic and fun-loving personality. No matter what she wears for Halloween, she is sure to impress the best!

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: Millie The Exterminator

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 0 comments

Here is Millie the Exterminator.  This is her homage to Billy the Exterminator of A&E fame.  Since she's a beagle mix and wants to eat everything that comes through our yard--possum, raccoon, mouse, shrew, whatever, this costume seems appropriate for her.  She's a three year old rescued dog we adopted last year, and she's about three years old.  I just hope Billy won't be jealous since she is cuter in this costume than he is.

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: Thing 1 & Thing 2

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 1 comment

This photo is of our two yorkies Max and Cody dressed up as thing 1 and thing 2.  Max and Cody have spunky, fun personalities just like the characters from Dr. Suess's famous book "The Cat in the Hat." Cody is 4 years old and keeps up just fine with his 8 month old brother Max.

Attached is a picture of my 1 year old boxer Lola.  She is the love of my life.  She dressed up as grapes for Halloween and was adorable.  Lola loves to play with her brother Hunter and go for bike rides with her mom.  She is a great workout companion.

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: Capone

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 0 comments

Bonjour and Treat or treat!! Capone is a very active 3 month old French Bulldog who always chooses treats over tricks. Although he was born in Kansas he hasn't forgotten his roots this Halloween. When he isn't acting like a maniac he can be found snuggling on the couch, giving puppy kisses and making me smile with his silly antics. Hope you enjoy his photo!

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: Lola The Cavewoman

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 0 comments

Meet Lola. She's a 2.5 year-old Frenchie and the love of our lives. This year, we decided to dress her as a prehistoric pup because her lack of manners and decorum are really part of her overall charm.

There are so many things that make Lola the most incredible furbaby in the world. For starters, she’s intensely loyal. She’s also absolutely hilarious, goofy, and sweet as can be. She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed but she tries really hard. She gives great kissies and walks around with food all over her face for a good 10 minutes after mealtime. She’s such a cuddly sleeper that it almost makes her snoring bearable. I could go on and on but every Halloween I’m reminded of one of her greatest qualities.

She’s amazingly tolerant. While she doesn’t particularly enjoy it, she actually lets us dress her up in costume year after year. And even better, she actually poses for pictures. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve a doggie that loves me enough to torture her in this way but I sure am grateful.

Halloween Photo Contest Entry: The K-9 Corral

Posted on November 01, 2011 | 0 comments

Yee-haw!  It's more hoedown than showdown at our K-9 Corral!

Golden best friends are showing off their hand sewn, finest western wear. "Buckaroo" Bailey stands proud in his rugged, leather vest with cut fringe detail over a pony-patterned shirt.  His silver revolver is slung on his right hip, lasso on his left, atop custom wooly chaps makin' him a tall drink of water.

Don't be fooled by Miss Dashwood's flouncy petticoat!  This Calamity Dash can hold her own on the open range.  The Annie Oakley inspired suede dress sports Texas-sized sequin stars with fringe shoulders.  Embellished hat and decorative cuffs add cowgal flair.  Crisp blue collared shirt with bronze buttons completes the sharp-shootin' outfit.

Embodying the high noon scenery, Brookman the Standard Poodle is the Rollin' Tumbleweed.   His rollicking personality can scarcely be contained within his decorated harness.  This dusty tumbler is crafted of natural vine wired in multiple circles.  Burlap strips were cut and twined to the piece and accented with dried thistles.  A matching Wild West headpiece branches off his apricot head.  He'll tumble right into your heart.

These ruff riders are sure to have a rootin' tootin' Howl-o-Ween!
